A comfortable place, a comfortable relationship is the foundation of good therapy or counseling. Just knowing as an adult that you can go somewhere and not have to act or be any certain way can be a wonderful gift   Adult Counseling & Therapy

Finding a comfortable place together

  • Marital & Relationship Counseling:  Many troubled relationships can be become joyful and satisfying.  While the issues that bother each of you are important, my best goal is to help you find love and comfort in your relationship again.  Building awareness between you, not just "head stuff" but true intuitive understanding of each other is the key to intimacy.

  • Anxiety, depression, stress, and worry:  We all go through our tough times, but sometimes we need help getting back to our best selves or becoming more of who we want to be.  Seeing your strengths in a new light, learning new skills, and healing the pain underlying many symptoms can give you a new sense of joy, freedom, and strength--nothing makes me happier than to see someone sad, scared, mad, and hurting find joy!

  • Abuse recovery, physical, sexual, emotional:  This is an area that is very important to me as a professional and I have done a lot of study and work to find the best ways to help.  These are deep wounds that hurt our bodies and nervous systems as well as our hearts and minds. Cutting edge research in the neurophysiology of trauma and abuse allows ways of recovery--body, mind, and spirit--that have not been available before.  This is exciting and powerful stuff and I would love to help you with the things that have hurt you the most in life.  I can offer you mind-body therapies like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), mindfulness, breath work, and body awareness that will energize the work we do together toward your healing and growth.  Release, relief, peace, and real joy are there for you!

  • Parenting/discipline and parent-child relationships: If you want a more peaceful and smoother-running family life, we can work in positive, practical, down-to-earth ways.  Even small changes in your family system, just your own, can bring about real improvements.  I will help you sort out what is going wrong and why and then, together, we will make a plan. In later sessions, we will talk about what is working at home and what is not, so we can revise our plan as needed.  It's great when other family members participate in the therapy, but we can do a lot even if it is just you and me working together.

  • Divorce-related issues: I am known in our South-Denver community as an experienced divorce specialist, and I am happy to share my expertise with you.   Few times in life are more difficult than during divorce, but things really can and do get better.  Let's talk together about getting on a good path.

  • Step-families and blended families: Creating a new family together is exciting, challenging, rewarding, and really difficult all at once.  It is great to get started right away on a good plan; however, for many of us, the big challenges don't pop up until after we are well into the new family.  We can work together to make a good plan or sort out what has gone wrong and what we can do about it

  • Serious accident or injury, military combat issues, divorce, loss of a loved one and other traumatic life experiences and situations.  You can suddenly find yourself in a whole new world--and not a very nice one--when tragic events break into your life.  While there are probably not many true "quick fixes," you really can find peace again.  We will look for understanding, healing, peace, and new life goals and sense of purpose.  I welcome you and feel honored that you will share your painful journey with me and let me walk with you for a while.

When you are having a difficult time in life, it's important to find
a comfortable place. . .

a place to think, sort out feelings, and make decisions.

I like to think that our therapy or counseling  relationship becomes
that comfortable place.

Together, we can find ways to build on your strengths, help solve problems,
and help you feel good  about who you are and how you live.
I look forward to meeting you. . .

. . .to make a comfortable place together just for you.
